About the company

The existence of a narrow land bridge between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea led to a decision in the middle of the last century to lay a pipeline through southern Israel and, combined with storage terminals, to serve the transit of crude oil from oil producing sources in the Persian Gulf to customers in Europe.

The Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Co. Ltd. was established in 1968 as the successor to companies that had transported oil over the same land bridge in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

The company operated successfully in times of dynamic changes in the domestic and global oil markets, and in times of political upheaval. After the expiry of a concession which had been given to the company to build and operate the oil facilities, the activity was transferred to a new company established for this purpose, Europe Asia Pipeline Company Ltd. (“EAPC”).

The crude oil pipeline system of EAPC consists of three pipelines. The largest of them is a 42″ diameter pipeline 254 km long linking the Eilat oil port on the Red Sea coast with the Ashkelon oil port on the Mediterranean coast. Two additional pipelines supply the refineries in Haifa and Ashdod, respectively. The company operates two oil ports and two oil terminals with a storage capacity of 3.6 million cubic meters for crude oil and petroleum products.

In addition to pipeline transit of crude oil, the company’s services include long-term storage and blending of crude oil according to specific customer requirements. In addition to its traditional business of crude oil transport and storage services offered to Israeli and international customers, EAPC today provides infrastructure services in areas such as LPG, oil products and coal. EAPC also operates a receiving terminal for natural gas from Israeli and foreign sources.

Following completion of a major project known as the “Reverse Flow Project“, it is now possible to pump crude oil in both directions through the 42” Eilat-Ashkelon pipeline increasing operational storage capacity and allowing movement of crude oil from the Mediterranean Sea to Eilat, and from there on to Asian markets.

Due to the lack of storage capacity in the Mediterranean basin, and with a view to contributing to Israel’s energy security, the company expanded petroleum product storage capacity and is taking steps to increase its crude oil storage capacity at its storage terminals in Ashkelon and Eilat. As one of the leading companies in the Israeli energy sector, EAPC is at the forefront of activity and development of future infrastructures. In this manner, the company maintains its capabilities and edge in providing domestic and international customers with solutions for receiving from offshore operations and storage of energy products.

EAPC ascribes supreme importance to safety, environment and corporate social responsibility, and has an efficient management and control system in place to this end. It is also EAPC policy to adopt the most stringent international standards on-land and sea. EAPC’s highly experienced and professional employees drive the company’s development, offering customer service of the highest standard in day-to-day operations.

EAPC’s experienced management team and skilled employees enable it, alongside ongoing activities, to spearhead progress and develop the company while maintaining top-notch customer service.
